"I'd like to come fishing. What do I do?"

If you plan to fish on a Sunday, then we'd recommend you telephone (01293 886598) before you visit. We won't turn you away for not ringing (unless we're full, of course), but if there's a match on the lake you'd particularly like to fish then you may be disappointed as Sunday is the busiest day for matches. Also, if it's the first time you've visited, we can show you where to go, since you cannot see the lakes from either the bailiffs house, the road or the car park. Lastly, if we're having maintenance work done – the fishery is occasionally closed, and there's a message to this effect on the ansafone.

Woodpeckers is halfway along the Old Hollow in Worth, near Crawley. Look out for a Blue and Yellow sign at both sides of the bottom of our drive. The signs say Pestarrest Pest Control (www.pestarrest.co.uk) and Woodpeckers Coarse Fishery. Drive up the drive.

When you arrive, please stop at the bungalow at the top of the drive where signed. You'll be met by either David or Dianne who will take your payment. (You may be greeted by our noisy dalmatians - but unless you have a couple of lamb chops with you, they'll lose interest quickly). Once you've paid, drive on and right - down the main drive to the Car Park and once you've unloaded, walk down the track to the left which is marked MATCH. At the bottom of that track, the lakes are ahead of you, and they're all signed.

Viewing

Unfortunately, due to the recent increase in the numbers of interested people, we no longer permit viewing of the lakes unless in special circumstances. (Disabled anglers concerned of the access to the lakes etc.) Our regular anglers inform us that this is one of the aspects of the fishery they particularly enjoy.

Facilities

We have a toilet on our large car park. We have shelters at and barbecue facilities for both Woodpeckers and Ospreys. For your convenience, cold drinks, chocolate bars and limited baits (sweetcorn, luncheon meat, crusty bread and sinking trout pellets) are available at the bailiffs house.
